Church of Basketball

Nike wanted to help restore faith in inner-city Chicago by restoring faith in basketball. That meant creating a safe place for Chicago’s youth to play, commune, reconnect with community and dream crazy.

We created Just Do It Headquarters at The Church, transforming a one-hundred-year-old abandoned and condemned church in the heart of inner-city Chicago into a glorious state-of-the-art basketball sanctuary for at-risk youth. It offered beautiful design and high-end amenities including a full-length court, lockers, weight & trainers’ room, and free Nike gear. Kids were taught the fundamentals of the game, including expert training, nutritional advice and how to navigate the mental aspects of the sport. The Church powerfully reminded Chicago’s youth that they’re worthy and valued members of a community.
